State Unemployment Rate Drops

JACKSON, Miss. (AP)- The number of people finding work is growing across the region.
New state numbers show employment increased in every county in April compared to last year.

Statewide, the jobless rate fell to 6.6 percent, as almost 9,000 more people were working compared to a year earlier.

In Northeast Mississippi, unemployment rates in Noxubee and Clay counties fell below 10 percent for the first time in years. 12 counties had unemployment rates below 6 percent.
