Storms Leave Damage in Lowndes Co.

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — Strong storms blew through North Mississippi Monday, and left behind damage all across the area, including Lowndes County.

There are several downed trees and power lines along Tabernacle Road.

Crews with 4-County Electric are out late working on those lines to restore power to residents in the area.

WCBI spoke to a couple homeowners who live along Tabernacle.

Chad Creely says a tornado went by his home while he was on his front porch.

He says all the trees that blew over barely missed his house.

“There’s a lot of work to do, but the house is fine, and nobody’s hurt that I know of, so I think we’re in good shape,” Creely said.

Creely says he didn’t see the tornado, but he could hear it, and it sounded like a freight train.

4-County linemen tell WCBI thousands of their customers are without power.
