STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) — Mississippi State University is adding a little more green to its campus.

The school celebrated Arbor Day, Friday, by planting three trees between Magruder and Harned Halls.

MSU forestry students planted a sycamore, burr oak, and sawtooth oak, which are native species.

“The need here was the fact that three trees had to be removed because of old age or various other maladies that they had, and we were able to replant trees and get their tree cover back growing again,” said Steve Grado, Department of Forestry.

This is the third year MSU has been designated as a Tree Campus USA with the Arbor Day Foundation.
