SULLIGENT, Ala. (WCBI) – Sulligent High School has a small class that’s bringing in big scholarship money.

The 45 seniors have been award more than a million dollars to further their education in Alabama.

An assembly was held in the school’s gym on Wednesday to celebrate the accomplishment.

A counselor worked with students to set a goal and then exceed the $750,000 last year’s seniors were awarded.

Educators say this is an accomplishment worth celebrating, before the group’s May 15th graduation day.

“Huge deal for all of our seniors, that they care enough to further their education to take the time to do this process to earn these funds,” said Lamar County Schools Superintendent Garth Moss.

Former Alabama and NFL quarterback Brody Crowell was the guest speaker.
