Video: Support For Kobe

NEW HOPE, Miss. (WCBI) — After being in a motorcycle accident over the weekend, Kobe Bryant Strickland was transported to a hospital in Jackson and is in critical condition.

Now, New Hope Middle School is rallying together to show support.

A football and LSU fan, students and teachers are showing support by wearing purple and gold.

It is a critical time, for Kobe’s family and for teachers and students at New Hope Middle School.

Everyone is staying positive for the young man who had an impact on everyone

Fellow student, Keaton McKellar says with a big smile, “he tries to high five me, like a billion times.”

Sixth grade math teacher, Eliza McKellar weighs in, “he wrote me this letter last week just thanking me for helping him make his accelerated math goal.” She goes on to say, “children like him are just, are the kind of kids that teachers love to have.”

Although this is a tough time, everyone is staying “Kobe strong”

Sixth grade social studies David Grady says, “were praying for Kobe, and the Strickland family, and the Bryant family.”

An account has been up set-up at Trustmark National Bank in Kobe Strickland’s name, for anyone wishing to help the Stickland family in this trying time.
