Suspects Sought in Guntown Thefts

GUNTOWN, Miss. — Crime Stoppers of Northeast Mississippi needs help funding two suspects in what may be a string of convenience store cash-register scams.

On Oct. 27, 2012 at around 6 P.M. two black males entered the Texaco Station on highway 45 in Guntown Ms. One of the males was wearing blue jeans, black t-shirt with a light colored jacket with blue trim around the collar and sleeves. This male is roughly 6″ tall and approximately 230 lbs. The second male was wearing a black shirt, khaki pants and a New Orleans Saints cap.

The second male was approx. 5″11′ tall and thinner built approx 160 lbs. Both men appeared to be in there 40’s to 50’s age wise.

The first male approached the cashier and made a purchase, before the cashier could close his drawer the man began asking for change for some $100 bills. The male subject continued to ask the cashier to make change for additional money and confused the cashier, while the second male subject distracted the other cashier at the store. The first male was arguing with the

clerk, when the clerk told him that he had given him too much money the male subject walked out of the store with a large amount of cash.

The subjects left in what appears to be a late 2000s model Chevrolet Cobalt.

Other incidents may have occurred in neighboring cities, with the same individuals doing the type of scam.
