The most common question asked is “what information do I need to bring with me when I file?”.
Area Manager Jennifer Damms tells us, first and most importantly to bring all your paperwork.

“We need to have forms of identification, we need to have a picture ID and any other IDs they can bring with them. Copies of their social security cards, W2s and 1099s,” added Damms.

It’s also important to keep extremely good records. You can avoid headaches in the tax office by being prepared and keeping copies of your receipts.

“They need to gather all of their information that they’ve had during the year, even if they’re not sure they may be able to itemize it’s a good idea to gather all those records,” said Damms.

And it’s always a good idea to get things filed early.

“The earlier the better, I know the IRS is opening a little bit later  this year and it’s kind giving everybody a little bit more chance to get their documents together,” added Damms.
