LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A Starkville teen pleads guilty to the reduced charge of second degree murder in a Valentine’s Day shooting last year.

Ronagal Outlaw, 18, will be sentenced Friday morning in Lowndes County Circuit Court. He faces 20 to 40 years in prison.

Outlaw was a 17-year-old Starkville High student when he was charged with first degree murder for shooting 23-year-old Trumaine Macon inside the Crossroads Lounge last Valentine’s day.

Outlaw fired several shots but only one hit Macon during a dispute inside the club located near the Lowndes-Oktibbeha County line.

Prosecutors reduced the charge because of Outlaw’s age and the lack of clear intent. Macon’s family is asking for a stiff sentence.

Outlaw was scheduled to go to trial Tuesday and faced life in prison if convicted of first-degree murder.
