Ten Year Old Dies From Falling Tree Limb At Ballard Park

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – A ten-year-old boy died Saturday as a result of being hit by a falling tree limb at Ballard Park, WCBI confirmed late Saturday night.

UPDATE (9:30 a.m. Sunday): Coroner Carolyn Green informed WCBI the boy was Lane Rodgers of Olive Branch.

He was participating in a baseball tournament when those present were evacuating due to storms in the area. He was taken to North Mississippi Medical Center before being airlifted to Le Bonheur in Memphis.

The tournament has been cancelled.

UPDATE (11:36 p.m. Saturday): The gates at the Ballard Park baseball fields will be open Sunday from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and there will be places set up for donations to the family, according to Alex Farned, the director of Parks and Recreation.
