Video: Testimony Under Way in 2012 Columbus Shooting Trial

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Testimony is underway in the trial of a man charged in a Columbus shooting.

The victim, Zachariah Johnson, took the stand today in Lowndes County court.

He claims Joel Jones shot him in July 2012 with a shotgun, leaving him permanently blind.

Johnson was shot in the chest, head and arm outside an Ash Street home.

A second person, Tamarcus Thomas, was standing behind Johnson and was hit in the lip.

Jones is facing two aggravated assault charges. He could serve 20 years on each charge.

Judge Jim Kitchens is hearing the trial.
