ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI)-The Bukka White Festival in Aberdeen has something for the whole family to enjoy even your four legged friend.

Every year the Bukka White Festival attracts people from all over because of the great vendors…best pies you will ever taste….and of course blues music. But for others it’s the Rover on the River Competition that keeps them coming back each year.

Some of the surrounding dogs and their pet owners put on their costume in hopes to win the cutest, and scariest and even the “looks most like the owner” award.

“We went to Wal-Mart and got some face paint and that’s pretty much it. We painted the dog. Tried to keep her from rolling everywhere,” says Paige Jennings.

This was the second time Roxy and her owners competed in the costume parade…but Brooklyn Little believes it wasn’t because of tradition.

“Cause me and Roxy needed to,” says Brooklyn Little

While some owners dressed to impress…dog owner Em Walters decided to leave the judges shaking in their paws.

“Wanted it to be something scary and mummy just popped in my head. Competition was fierce and we came out on top,” says Em Walters.

Walters says it doesn’t matter if they win or lose it’s meeting new friends that brings them back each year.

“I think we have seven states represented here today. I met a couple from Canada last night so it’s just growing and growing,” says Walters.

So no matter where you call home, you can always find friends and great food at the Bukka White Festival.

“Cause this show is fantastic we had fun,” says Little.

The festival is featuring a variety of blues artists that will be playing until late Saturday night.
