COLUMBUS, MISS. (WCBI)– The Salvation Army is calling all bell ringers. They are needing volunteers to help “ring in” the last few days before Christmas. Salvation Army bell ringers have rang in almost five-hundred volunteer hours and has collected over fifty-thousand dollars. There are only a few days left until Christmas and the Salvation Army is in need of two-hundred and fifty more volunteer hours. There are only four paid bell ringers left from the twenty that started, so they need volunteers to help them reach their goal, says Commanding Officer, Major Alan Phillips.

“We need warm bodies on a rainy day, it’s suppose to rain tomorrow, that will ring bells for one hour, for two hours, if you have a group, a lot of groups will ring all day.”

More volunteers mean more money for the Salvation Army to use for Christmas angel gifts and feeding the hungry. If you are interested in being a volunteer bell ringer, call Major Alan Phillips at (662)327-5137. He will get you set up at your location with a kettle and bell.
