The Union Heritage Museum Displays Faulkner Tree Stump

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) – It’s a piece of literary history.

A stump from a red bud tree that once lived outside of William Faulkner’s Rowan Oak Home has been donated to the Union Heritage Museum in New Albany.

Vardaman folk artist Dudley Davis donated the item after showcasing the stump at local Faulkner gatherings.

The stump is said to have been alive in the 1930s when Faulkner outlined his book, “The Fable” on the walls of his study.
