Thompson’s Role As Judge And Candidate Uncertain

(TUPELO,MS) WCBI -The future of Lee County Justice Court Judge Rickey Thompson both as a judge and a candidate are both still undecided tonight.
The Mississippi Supreme Court issued a ruling Thursday which would remove  Thompson from office June eleventh unless he files a motion to appeal the court order by June Fourth.  Supreme Court Information Officer Beverly Kraft told WCBI late this afternoon no  appeal of the order has been filed today.  The second issue at hand is whether Thompson, who has qualified for reelection, can be on the ballot.  State Democratic Party Chairman Ricky Cole says party lawyers are reviewing the Supreme court order to see what options are out there.  He adds deadlines for printing ballots are approaching and is hopeful the candidacy question will be answered shortly.
