Video: Three New Principals Coming to Columbus

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Columbus School District will soon have three new principals.

The trio were confirmed at the school board meeting Monday.

Undray Scott will soon be the principal at Columbus High School.

He has been the Assistant Principal at Brandon High for 11 years, and says he hopes to improve the lives of students as they journey through high school.

“I understand that the parents send us there best they have and they expect us to do what’s right by their kids and that’s what I plan to do. When we get them as freshman, our plan is in 4 years when we send them into the world that they are better people, ” says Scott.

Kurus Jamison will be the principal at Columbus Middle.

He has been an educator for 20 years, worked in West Point and has even been a guidance counselor.

He hopes to build a successful environment for all students.

“Our goal is to put every kid in the best possible situation to be successful. So, in order to do that, it’s gonna take an effort from everyone, the community, the parents, the business community and all of the stake holders involved need to be participating to help these kids move forward, ” says Jamison.

Tawan Williams,is the interim principal at Franklin and will soon take over the job full time.

She also says, working together with the community is the key to success.

“I would do that by pulling and bringing together community members, the staff, students and parents to meet the needs of all of our students, ” says Williams.

The new principals officially start July 1st.
