Thunderchief Could Arrive Soon to Veteran’s Park

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – An Air Force F-105 Thunderchief could be on display at Tupelo’s Veteran’s Memorial Park in time for the Memorial Day holiday.

The group “Jet Volunteers” has worked for four years to get the fighter plane at the park.

As long as weather cooperates they say the bomber, nicknamed “Thud,” could be in place by May 26th festivities.

The Thunderchief is being refurbished and repainted before it is mounted in the park.

Tupelo city money and private donations helped fund the $60,000 project.

Fundraising now continues for a replica Vietnam Memorial Wall.
