Tippah Murder Convict Staying In Prison

JACKSON, MS) WCBI – The man convicted of the December 2010 slaying of a Tippah County deputy will stay in jail.

Franklin Fitzpatrick had appealed his conviction in the death of deputy Dewayne Crenshaw to the Mississippi Supreme Court claiming several errors were made during the trial Fitzpatrick claimed his mental ability to stand trial was never established and errors were made in jury instructions. All of those claims were denied by the high court. Fitzpatrick was sentenced to life in prison without parole. Fitzpatrick was high on bath salts at a Tippah County home when deputies tried to arrest him. During a struggle Fitzpatrick was able to grab the gun from one deputy and use it to shoot Crenshaw to death.
