Tips to Wrangle Wild Hogs

PONTOTOC, Miss. – (WCBI)They root, they dig and they destroy land.

Farmers, loggers, and landowners headed to Pontotoc to find out how to control the wild hog population.

Experts from the Mississippi State and the Mississippi Department of Wildlife Services discussed the history, ecology, laws and removal methods for clearing lands of the invasive swine.

One local farmer says he knows just how much damage wild hogs can do.

” The loss had be $25,000 to $35,000 this year. That’s what it cost me to clean up behind them and the corn loss that we’ve had this year,” says local farmer Garland Anderson.

The seminar was hosted by the MSU Extension service.
