Tishomingo Receives Recovered Funds

UKA, Miss. (AP) – State Auditor Stacey Pickering has returned $92,583 to the Tishomingo County Board of Supervisors following an investigation into former Chancery Clerk Hayden Ables’ misappropriation of public funds.

The presentation was made Monday in Iuka.

Pickering says in a news release that auditors found that Ables received improper payments from the county between 2004 and 2007, his final term of office.

Ables was first elected Tishomingo County chancery clerk in 1984. He lost his bid for re-election in 2007.

Pickering says Ables was paid for services he either didn’t perform for the county or was not authorized to receive payment for performing.
