PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI) — Fifty cycling enthusiasts took part in a special ride Saturday to raise money to benefit Itawamba Community College.

The second annual Tour de Tanglefoot was held in Pontotoc the midway point of the 44-mile-long Tanglefoot Trail bike path. The ICC Foundation thought a ride would be a great way for participants to get some exercise and at the same time raise money for the Foundation which provides funds for various projects at ICC.

Jim Ingram is the Foundation director.

“It gives money to scholarships for students. It also gives stipends for our teachers and faculty and also other building projects at the college. So it helps fill in some gaps monetarily for the college,” Ingram says.

Ingram says last year’s first Tour de Tanglefoot occurred right after the Tupelo tornado so attendance was down.

He says this year’s ride should be even better than a year ago. Fortunately the weather did not hinder the participation as much as organizers thought it might.
