Trial Delayed For Blogger Accused Of Photographing Cochran’s Wife

MADISON, Miss. (AP) – Trial has been delayed until June 8 for a political blogger accused of photographing bedridden Sen. Thad Cochran’s wife, without permission, in a nursing home.

The Clarion-Ledger reports Clayton Kelly of Pearl requested the delay. His trial had been scheduled for next week in Madison.

Kelly is charged with conspiracy, attempted burglary and burglary.

Madison County District Attorney Michael Guest says Kelly has not been offered a plea deal. Four people initially were charged in the case, but Kelly is now the only defendant.

Rose Cochran died in December after living in a nursing home with dementia during her final years. Images of her were briefly posted online last year to try to discredit Cochran during a tough Republican primary. Cochran won the primary and was re-elected in November.
