Troopers in Three Districts Worked 363 Accidents

The Mississippi Highway had every Trooper in the northern region working during the past 2 days to ensure public safety during the recent winter storms. During the time frame, Troopers in the north region responded to 363 calls for service. This includes Starkville, Greenwood, Batesville and New Albany Districts. The most calls were recorded in New Albany district, which responded to 124 service calls.

The icy roads were to blame for two fatalities. Both were recorded on Tuesday, Feb 11th. One in Troop D on MS 35 and one in Troop G on US 82. Troop F, New Albany, recorded no fatalities.

Troopers worked around the clock, worked overtime, and had troopers from other parts of the state brought in to help provide assistance during the storm.

According to Capt Chad Moore, Troop F Commander, “We used all the resources available and made sure we responded to each call quickly and efficiently. We prepared for this storm and made sure public safety would be our top priority.” He continued, “Considering the amount of crashes recorded, no doubt the efforts of our men and women contributed to saving lives.”
