Tupelo Author Holds Book Signing

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A northeast Mississippi author recently released the second book in a popular trilogy.

Merle Temple autographed copies of his new book “A Rented World” this afternoon at Reed’s Gumtree Bookstore.

This is the second book written by the Tupelo resident, and follows his first book “A Ghostly Shade of Pale.”

The book’s main character Michael Parker is a law enforcement officer. Temple based the character off his experiences as an agent with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics in the 1970s.

Temple said he wanted readers to take away something of value from his books.

“That they will discern the many threads in the book and the warnings I mentioned about the wickedness in the world, and what is eternal that Michael finds in this book, and he is so far down and so flat on his face that there’s only one place left for him to look and that’s up,” Temple said.

Temple is also in talks with Hollywood producers about a movie adaptation of his first book.
