Tupelo City Council Approves $11.5 Million Contract for Improvements

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) – The Tupelo project set to improve infrastructure and the aesthetic layout of the downtown area to Elvis Presley’s birthplace will cost more than expected.

The Tupelo City Council gave the nod to a $11.5 million contract for the improvements that hope to increase tourism and spark economic development.

Funding for the project will be provided by the U.S. Department of Transportation, Major Thoroughfare Program and the city of Tupelo.

The construction contract has been awarded to Key LLC out of Madison.
