TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Plans to build a new police station in Tupelo moved forward this evening.

The Tupelo City Council formalized their intention to issue $10 million in bonds within the next two years.

With tonight’s move, and the $5 million already in the bank, progress on the new headquarters could begin as early as December.

The rest of the money could be used in the future for infrastructure improvements and special projects.

Tupelo leaders were advised to get financing in order for the police project before approving contracts.
