Tupelo hosts Super Sprint Triathlon

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — The rain held off long enough this morning for the first annual Tupelo Super Sprint Triathlon at Veterans Park.

It started with a 300-yard swim at the Tupelo Aquatic Center.

Then the 90 plus competitors did an 11-mile bike ride, followed by a two mile run to the finish. Organizers says competitors came from five states, which meant a boon for the hotel and restaurant business.

The purpose of the event was to get beginners interested in triathlons and living an active lifestyle.
