Tupelo Man Killed in Early Morning Fire

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Officials are investigating a fire that killed a Tupelo man early Saturday morning.

Lee County coroner Carolyn Green says the fire happened sometime between 4 and 5 a.m. Saturday at a home on South Foster Street in Tupelo.

That’s when Romero Hampton, 41, woke up his wife. She was able to escape the blaze, but he did not.

Green says Romero’s body will be sent for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

The Tupelo fire and police departments are investigating.
