Tupelo Officials Mull Next FY 2015 Goals

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — Administrators with Tupelo spent the day setting and discussing goals for the upcoming fiscal year.

A daylong workshop aimed at setting and evaluating goals was attended by department heads, members of a citizens accountability council and concerned citizens.

Each city council member, along with each department head, outlined goals and areas that need attention.

The information will be gathered and eventually will lead to a comprehensive list of goals for the upcoming year.

“One thing is being effective and efficient as a city government,” Tupelo Mayor Jason Shelton said. “Utilizing all resources in the most efficient, effective way possible to serve our citizens. Then you have common themes, such as reducing personnel costs, providing greater level of service to citizens to the traditional government things such as drainage and city streets.”

This is the second goal-setting retreat since Shelton took office last year.

Many of the goals outlined at the initial meeting were delayed or impacted by April’s tornado.
