Tupelo, Miss. (WCBI) – The 2015 Law Enforcement Service took on extra meaning. On Monday, Officers and deputies were at the BancorpSouth Arena to remember those who have died in the line of duty.

The ceremony comes days after the tragedy in Hattiesburg, where two police officers were gunned down during a traffic stop.

Tupelo Sergeant Gale Stauffer was killed two years ago.

His widow understands the sorrow and pain being felt in south Mississippi.

“I know exactly what their families are feeling, and it’s important that we support them when they’re ready,” said Beth Stauffer. “Right now they’re world has been rocked, and so we just want to support them whenever they’re ready.”

Stauffer also spoke about the brotherhood of the thin blue line. She’ll represent her husband in Washington, during National Law Enforcement Week events.
