Video: Tupelo Students Live a Day in the Past
TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI)-It was a trip back in time for hundreds of school students as they experienced a living history day at Tupelo’s Oren Dunn Museum. There were blacksmith demonstrations, dance and music, soap making and other examples of life in the late 19th Century. Organizers say many of the youngsters have no idea how people used to live before the age of the internet.
Janice Anthony of the Oren Dunn Museum said,
“They have fun they’re out here laughing, we’ve got a corn grinder over there they didn’t even know what that was, to make meal and flour instead of going to the grocery store and buying a sack of it.”
There will be another living history day next Friday (10-12).
