Twiggy the Surfing Squirrel

TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — It’s hard for some humans to get up on water skis.

But this weekend it wasn’t a human skiing enthusiast who brought a crowd out to the the sportsman bonanza at Tupelo Furniture Market.

It was Twiggy the surfing squirrel….She was pulled by the remote controlled boat and literally holds on to the cable as she surfs around the pool. Twiggy, who is actually Twiggy number seven is trained by Lou Ann Best.

“Actually my husband died in a boating accident in 97 we started this in 79,” she says. “But since then we taught two French poodles, two miniature horses , a black cat, an armadillo and a toad frog how to water ski. And Twiggy also hang glided and jet skied.”

Best says in honor of her late husband she has used Twiggy’s surfing to teach people, especially children the importance of water safety.

She makes sure Twiggy has a life vest.

Twiggy has performed all over the world.
