Two Arrested, 300 Pounds of Pot Confiscated

The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, working a continuing investigation in cooperation with the Louisiana State Police, arrested a Clinton man Sunday at a Jackson residence when he attempted to take delivery of approximately 300 pounds of marijuana, according to MBN interim director Sam Owens.

MBN agents charged 27-year-old Tavarus Williams with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, said Director Owens, who added that agents seized a 40-caliber semi-automatic handgun from the suspect.

Earlier in the day, LSP arrested 26-year-old Carlos Davis of Greenwood, Miss., when troopers and a K-9 officer uncovered the bundled marijuana in the back of a 2015 Mazda CX-5 during a routine traffic stop, LSP said in a statement.

Hinds County Sheriff Department as well as Pearl and Flowood police departments assisted the MBN in the two-state investigation that led to the arrests.
