FULTON, Miss. – (WCBI) He has represented the 42nd District of Mississippi for six years, but now Sen. Chris McDaniel wants to make his move to Washington.

He is challenging current U.S. Senator Thad Cochran with the support of the Tea Party

McDaniel is a two term state senator, but is now focusing on a grassroots based campaign.

He says the campaign trail is really starting to heat up, but he says his message remains the same.

Now is the time for change.

“We recognize the Cochran campaign is getting really nasty. They are running negative ads. They are smearing us. We are going to run a clean campaign, and talk about his record and talk about my record and our vision for the state of Mississippi. We know Washington has to be changed, and we are going to up there to save our Republic,” says McDaniel.

The primaries will be held on June 3.
