UA Smoke Ban to Go Into Effect in January

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (WCBI) — The University of Alabama will be smoke-free this January.

The policy applies to students, faculty and staff, and campus visitors.

The ban does not include smokeless tobacco products. However, electronic cigarettes and vapor devices are not allowed.

It covers all campus facilities and properties, including sororities and fraternities, and athletic events. That means all of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The smoke-free policy goes into effect January 2015.

Administrators say it will promote a healthier and safer environment.
