UNA Picks New President

FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) – A North Carolina college administrator will become the new president at the University of North Alabama.

A presidential search committee selected 50-year-old Ken Kitts for the position.

Kitts will replace William Cale, who retired in June after more than nine years.

The TimesDaily (http://bit.ly/1s99fIG ) reports Kitts is now the provost and vice chancellor of academic affairs at the University of North Carolina Pembroke.

The search committee selected Kitts over two other finalists on Wednesday. He’s expected to make more than $250,000 annually.

North Alabama is located in Florence and has about 6,800 students. The school is trying to reverse a five-year decline in enrollment.
