United Way Launches Website

The United Way of North Central Mississippi has launched its first-ever website as part of an ongoing effort to boost the organization’s community visibility and that of the 15 charitable agencies it serves.

The new United Way website can be found online at http://www.unitedwayncms.com. After being developed for more than two months, the website became active on Monday, said Executive Director Nikki Rives.

“The website will be an important component in helping to communicate with the public about United Way activities and those of our 15 member agencies,” said Rives. “The website will be a huge asset in telling the story of the good work being done in our community.”

The United Way website has a variety of features, including the following:

Information about the mission and history of the local United Way organization.

An overview of the 15 member agencies, including contact information and statistics about each agency’s impact over the previous year.

A news/blog section that will be updated regularly. Website visitors can register on the homepage to receive updates each time the site is updated.

Detailed information about getting involved in United Way activities such as the annual fundraising campaign and community service initiatives such as the “United We Feed,” “United We Read” and “Day to Care” projects.

Links to information about making financial contributions to the United Way. Answers to frequently asked questions and details about the various means of making contributions is available, as well as an online form where website visitors can request pledge cards and other donation materials.

Contact information for the United Way administrative staff and an online form for website visitors to submit information indicating their interest in volunteering with the organization.

Links for website visitors to Twitter feeds and Facebook pages in an effort to broaden the website audience through social media.

“The website will be an active venue for communicating information about United Way projects. We see much potential for the site in expanding the public’s knowledge about the work that we do to make Oktibbeha, Choctaw, Webster and Winston counties better places to live, work and raise families,” Rives said.

Cellular phone users will also be able to access a mobile version of the website. The mobile version also was launched on Monday, Rives said.
