Video: $12,000 Reward Offered In Corinth Officer Shooting Investigation

CORINTH, Miss. (WCBI) — A Corinth police officer remains in the hospital after being shot, as the reward increases to $12,000 to find the gunman.

Officer Kevin Parker Jr. was shot early Wednesday morning.

The U.S. Marshal’s Service is offering $5,000 for the arrest and conviction of the person who shot Parker.

Corinth Mayor Tommy Irwin tells WCBI the city will match any reward money up to $15,000.

As of Thursday afternoon, two citizens had donated $500 a piece to the reward fund.

Police say Parker was responding to a prowler call when a man ran in front of the patrol car.

Parker tried to arrest the man but a scuffle over his service weapon ensued and that’s when the cop was shot.

The suspect is described as a 5′ 9″ black male, weighing about 250 pounds. He wore dark clothes and a backpack.
