CALHOUN COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI-TV) — Investigators say it is a horrific case of child abuse.

And, now the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department is charging a Eupora woman with felony child abuse.

Wendy Fountain is already in the Webster County Jail on a $100,000 dollar bond for child abuse charges in that county.

On January 27th, the Webster County Sheriff’s Department reportedly got word of a child abuse case from DHS.

The victim, who is Fountains’s child, remains in Le Bonheur Hospital in Memphis in critical condition. DHS sent the child to Eupora Hospital by ambulance. The child was then flown to Memphis.

The Webster County sheriff’s department investigation led to the Fountain’s arrest.

Now further investigation reveals that Fountain lived in Calhoun County for several months.  Sheriff Greg Pollan tells WCBI News that investigators believe Fountain also was abusive and neglectful during that time.

She is being held on a 100-thousand dollar bond in Webster County.  Additional bond amounts may apply in the Calhoun charges.
