UPDATE: Monroe County Farmer Dies from Injuries Sustained in Accident

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A Monroe County farmer has died from injuries sustained in a farming accident Wednesday night.

Don Self, 55, of Hamilton, was pinned between his truck and the trailer of his 18-wheeler when he and an employee were attaching the trailer.

Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says the accident happened just after 9 p.m. Wednesday on Sipsey Fork Road north of Greenwood Springs.

Local emergency crews freed Self from between the truck and trailer and flew him to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo.

Self was pronounced dead from multiple trauma at 10 p.m. Wednesday.

Coroner Alan Gurley said the death will be ruled an accident and no autopsy will be performed.
