Update: One In Custody After Prentiss County Shooting

PRENTISS COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) — A woman is dead and a man in custody after an early morning shooting in Prentiss County.

Sheriff Randy Tolar says his office was called about 1:15 Friday morning about gunfire inside a home on Water Tank Road just yards from the Booneville city limits.

The pursuant investigation resulted charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon against James Erik Robinson, 26, of 500 Water Tank Road, Booneville.  The weapon was recovered at the scene along with other evidence that led to the charges being filed.  The victim is identified as 23-year-old Andrea Nicole Fleming of Booneville.  She was shot once in the chest.

Her body was transported to Jackson for autopsy by Prentiss County Coroner Greg Sparks.

At 1:16 am Prentiss County 911 received a call reporting a shooting incident on Water Tank Road, just outside the city limits of Booneville.  Deputies backed up by Booneville Police responded to the residence, arriving within four minutes of the 911 call.

Robinson’s bond has been set at $1 million on the murder charge. An additional $5,000 bond has been set for the firearm charge.  Robinson was on parole at the time of his arrest having been released in the middle of March from MDOC custody.

Fleming’s memorial service was held Monday in Baldwyn at the Kesler Funeral Home.
