UPDATE: Suspect Identified, Charged in Wednesday Cortinth Shooting

CORINTH, Miss. (WCBI) – A man has been arrested in connection with a Wednesday night shooting in Corinth.

According to police, Amartrie Moss, 17, of Corinth, will be charged as an adult for the shooting death of 19-year-old Anthony Beene.

An altercation ensued at John Street Park that led to Moss pulling a gun and firing on Beene. Beene then ran up Droke Road to a residence that called 911 for assistance.

Beene was found  dead on the front porch of the home with multiple gunshot wounds when police arrived on the scene.

Witnesses saw the shooting and positively identified Moss as the shooter.

Moss’s mother spoke with Chief David Lancaster early Thursday and told police she possible knew the whereabouts of her son.

She asked police to suspend their search until she could bring her son in to police. She turned Moss in around 3 a.m. Thursday.

An autopsy is being performed on Beene’s body.

Moss is set to be arraigned Friday.
