Update: Union County Inmate is Captured

WINSTON COUNTY, Miss ( WCBI) – The search for the Union County Inmate ended around midnight Friday morning.

Micheal Shafer, 28, was taken back into custody after his mother’s home was surrounded by sheriff deputies. Shafer was found inside and arrested without incident. There has been one arrest made in connection with the escape. More arrests are expected to be made.

Shafer was in jail on a probation violation and is now being charged with escape.
