COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A Columbus neighborhood soon could see some relief and some of the city’s most-pressing equipment needs will be met.
The City Council approved borrowing up to $1.2 million from Trustmark Bank to buy a fire truck, dump truck and brush truck during Tuesday’s (12/18) meeting.
The money will also help with major improvements to 14th Avenue North.
The 1.52% interest rate on the five-year note is one of the lowest in the state on a similar package. Consultants credited the city’s financial management with the low rate.
The money will be available in early January.
