Video: 2 Pounds of Pot and Suspected Drug Dealer off the Streets in Verona

VERONA, Miss. (WCBI) -Lee County Sheriff’s Deputies and Agents from the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit put a dent in the drug trade around Verona.
Investigators had received information that Marcus A. Raines was selling drugs from an apartment on Tenth Street in Verona. When Agents executed a search warrant on the home they found nearly 2 pounds of marijuana, digital scales, cash, and a .380  semi automatic pistol.

Sheriff Jim Johnson credits good police work and public involvement for the big bust.

“This year this is one of the largest amounts of marijuana arrest that we have made. But through some good information and help with the general public there in the Verona area we were able to get this individual off the streets.”

Marcus Raines is charged with Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon. His bond was set $75,000.00 He faces a June 28th court date.
