COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — Four County Electric Power Association joins the national Rural Electric Cooperative Association in celebrating National Lineman Appreciation Day.

Four County serves the linemen a steak Monday with all the trimmings for lunch in Columbus.

Headquartered in Columbus Four County has 49 employees who work in the field restoring power during outages and maintaining distribution lines and equipment.

Four County CEO/ General Manger Joe Cade says electric linemen often work all hours of the day, often in hazardous conditions far from their families.

“And we enjoy going and helping people. Thats the rewarding part of it you know. Getting to see people’s satisfaction by us coming and doing our jobs,” said Tim Atkins/4 County Lineman.

“The biggest thing for me is to see whenever we get someone’s lights on, that smile on their face. It lights up the room you know,” said Hayden Nickles/4 County Lineman.

The co-op maintains 5,502 miles of line, including transmission, over head and underground lines.
