COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – A string of suspected arsons prompts a $5,000 reward.

Columbus firefighters have responded to at least 10 incendiary fires in the last year.

Many of those have been in an eight-block area on the city’s Northside.

Two weeks ago city leaders expressed concern a serial arsonist might be on the run and one of the fires could take the life of a homeless person who was using the vacant homes for shelter.

No fires have been reported since then, but the state Fire Marshal’s office has offered the reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction.

Anyone with information should call the Columbus Fire Department.
