STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-Some Starkville residents had the chance to warm up at the Souper Bowl.

The 6th annual Souper Bowl kicked off at Stargin, and featured seven local restaurants like Harvey’s, Bin 612 and The Grill.

Guests had the chance to taste soups like sweet potato and turnip greens, or spicy pork and kale soup.

Also, soup tasters were asked to bring a can of soup to donate to the pantry at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

One organizer says it’s a way the Starkville Main Street and Young Professionals can host a fun event while giving back to the community.

“We’re not only promoting restaurants giving people a taste of what our local restaurants have to offer but we love to support a great cause and the food pantries are so important in the area,” says Jennifer Prather.

Tasters got a chance to vote on their favorite soup while they were there.
