TUPELO, Miss. (WCBI) — A Tupelo man and marine is fundraising all week for two worthy causes.

Scott Burns has been camped out since Saturday at the Tupelo mall.

This is his 8th year to host 7 Days For The Troops and this year, all of the money raised goes to 8 Days of Hope and Purple Heart Homes.

8 Days of Hope is bringing in more than 2,000 volunteers to the community next month to aid in tornado relief efforts.

Purple Heart Homes will remodel one home of a disabled veteran, and make the house handicap accessible.

Burns’ goal for this year $15,000.

Visitors in the food court may get involved, especially if it’s their birthday.

“We’ve got some birthday deals that we do where we give away gifts because its somebody’s birthday but they have to run around and collect the money to pay for their birthday present. Its a great concept because earlier today we did it and they guy had to come back with $60 and he came back with $590,” Scott Burns said.

Burns will leave the mall July 4, but he encourages everyone to come support the cause.

To donate online visit www.7daysforthetroop.org or text PHH to 501501 on your cellphone to donate $10.
