ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) — On the front steps of Aberdeen City Hall a faithful patriotic group sang songs and gave speeches, in honor of first responders for their dedicated service.

After the posting of the colors there were prays made for our nation, men and women of our military, and for first responders and their families; especially those who lost loved one during the terrorist attacks in 2001. One local first responder was choked up with emotion for fellow first responders who died that day.

“Its a heartbreaking thing, its a heartbreaking thing to know that some of our brothers and sisters was out there that day,” said Billy Yarbrough, First Responder.

“We’re very sorry for the ones that lost loved ones and every day is a struggle and every day is a sacrifice,” said Derrick Paine/Aberdeen Fire Department.

Ever since the terrorist attacks, people in the city of Aberdeen and Monroe County have come together to remember that day.
