PONTOTOC, Miss. (WCBI)-A group of Pontotoc firemen are asking the Board of Alderman to donate an older model fire truck to paint it pink.

The 1985 fire truck, if donated, would be repainted pink in honor of those battling cancer. The local Pink Heals Pontotoc Chapter would use fund-raising and promotional activities involving the truck to help victims of cancer and their families. The idea came from larger cities like Memphis where they sale shirts and other merchandise to raise funds for families and for fuel to tour local communities. One fireman says it’s just another way to reach out to their community.

“We started a chapter here called pink hills and they raise money to help local people that has cancer and to help them with bills and to take care of their family while they are in need of going and getting treatment,” says Brad White.

Once the fire truck is painted pink, cancer patients and their families will get a chance to add their signatures to the truck.
